Coffee & Collaboration: Episode 2 with CIUSSS-ODIM
The second episode of Coffee & Collaboration, held in partnership with CIUSSS-ODIM, brought together clinicians, researchers, and peer support workers to discuss youth mental health, AI tools like ChatGPT, peer support roles, and cutting-edge research projects including DEEPDD and TMS. This initiative promotes interdisciplinary collaboration, knowledge sharing, and innovation in mental health care.

Historic achivement: Five CEYMH researchers receive SIRS Early Career Awards
This year, our center is celebrating an exceptional achievement: five of our researchers have been awarded the prestigious Early Career Award by the Schizophrenia International Research Society (SIRS), the highest number our team has ever received! Congratulations to Fatima Abboud, Fernando Gonzales-Aste, Mona Dlikan, Chaimaa El-Mouslih, and Alban Voppel.

CEYMH Director Awarded Royal-Mach-Gaensslen Prize for Mental Health Research
Our Director, Dr. Lena Palaniyappa has been awarded the 2025 Royal‑Mach‑Gaensslen Prize for Mental Health Research, one of Canada’s top national honors recognizing groundbreaking innovation in mental health.
This prestigious award celebrates Dr. Palaniyappan’s pioneering research in the early identification and treatment of psychosis, one of the most severe and resource-intensive mental illnesses affecting young people. His leadership at the Centre of Excellence in Youth Mental Health has not only advanced scientific understanding but also shaped practical approaches that improve outcomes for youth across Canada.

Latest Scientific Publication from the Centre of Excellence in Youth Mental Health
Measuring Formal Thought Disorder (FTD) is often inconsistent across mental health scales. Using AI and natural language processing, researchers identified four clear FTD symptom clusters, improving agreement between expert ratings and clinical data. This approach could make mental health assessments more reliable.
