From Florence to Pavia: CEYMH’s Scientific Journey in Italy

At the end of March 2026, our team traveled to Italy to participate in two major international conferences focused on mental health, psychosis, and schizophrenia.

The first was the Schizophrenia International Research Society (SIRS) conference in Florence, which brings together global researchers to advance knowledge in the field. The program featured several symposia on speech and language research, as well as the use of AI based on natural language processing.

“It felt like a scientific marathon: so much to see and to do,” highlighted Alban Voppel (Research Coordinator for the MOTS+ Project), noting the high level of engagement from the CEYMH team, “A very large number of our researchers gave oral presentations, presented posters, and chaired sessions.”

Our team also organized part in the 4th DISCOURSE in Psychosis consortium meeting, hosted in Pavia by Professor Valentina Bambini and her team. This event gathered more than 100 specialists in psychiatry, psychology, and linguistics to advance research on language, thought, and communication disorders.

During the meeting, MD/PhD student Laetitia Yingqi Wang was honored with the Best Poster Presentation award for her project, “Impaired Network Control Underlying Impoverished Thinking in Schizophrenia.”

We are proud to see members of our team presenting their work on the international stage and actively contributing to the advancement of research.
